The Wedding Journal: Choosing Our Save the Dates

The time has come to finally send out our wedding date for people to keep free! I’m not going to lie before getting engaged I wasn’t really sure what the point of a save the date was. However, I’ve now realised giving people as much notice as possible means you’ll have as many of your loved ones at your day as possible. So here we are choosing our save the dates!

I thought choosing our save the dates would be a lot harder than it actually was. However, we actually came across a company at the very first wedding fair we attended. The company had the most beautiful designs laid out on the table and I instantly loved the designs that included wax seals!

As we have booked a manor house we wanted our save the dates to be quite classic and classy and this company just fit the bill! It also turned out that the company that made our save the dates also made my ‘will you be my bridesmaid’ cards that I had ordered of Etsy and I didn’t realise until they arrived!

So the save the dates are part of the Alexis collection from the company Kathryn Deeley. Originally, the Alexis collection was shown in Pink however Kathryn had lots of different colours to choose from. As you can see from the pictures we were going to go for grey/silver card with white writing however you just couldn’t see it well enough. We did however go for the white shimmer card with silver foil writing and a light silver wax seal. Which we both absolutely love!

Kathryn told us that we could even personalise our own wax stamp for an extra fee and we jumped at the chance. So because of that we had to tweak the design slightly from the one above. We chose a wax seal that has J&J on it in a font to match the save the date. As the wax stamp would now have our initials on it, it wouldn’t say save the date, so we have added the words ‘ save the date’ under the wax seal above our names in the same text as the ‘formal invitation to follow’.

The final result after the changes was perfect and we absolutely loved our save the dates! They look so classic and chic and were exactly what we both wanted. The save the dates are also a lovely size at about half of A5, meaning they are quite delicate and make a nice pre-invite for when the actual full size invite arrives.

I am so happy we decided to go with Kathryn for our save the dates. The save the dates are such a lovely quality, and really give our guests a feel for our big day before it arrives! I can’t wait to see what the invites are going to look like when the save the dates look so good!

If you are planning a wedding/event I would definitely recommend Kathryn Deeley as not only does she have in-house designs but she also creates bespoke designs, name labels and many more things.
