The Iconic Red Soled Shoes

This is a really exciting blog post for me, because it’s all about my first ever pair of designer shoes and not just any designer shoes…. red sole shoes!!

It would be an understatement if I said I wasn’t extremely excited about owning a pair of Christian Louboutin shoes. I mean it has always been a dream of mine to own a pair of red sole shoes and for my 21st birthday (which was a while ago, I only just got round to writing this) my boyfriend bought me a pair… eek best boyfriend ever!

As it was such an expensive purchase my boyfriend told me he wanted to buy me the shoes but he wanted me to decide what size and style I would like. This was my shopping heaven! Although I took a hell of a long time to decide  (he even got annoyed and told me to hurry up!) the pair I actually wanted. It took me months. Should I go classic? should I go out there? Should I go bright or subtle? These were all questions running through my head, but eventually I did make a decision.

The other question I also had was do I buy online or go to a shop? As I am not local to a shop it wouldn’t have been very easy for me with the nearest shop being London. So instead I did A LOT of research into sizing and styles and decided to purchase online. I mean I watched endless review videos and blog posts, I wanted to be 100% satisfied with my decision. I would say though if you are near a shop definitely go to it as it will be easier to decide the perfect size for you. I am normally a size 6 but have quite wide feet, so after reading some reviews and wanting to be sure they fit properly I decided to size up by half a size and went for a 39 and a half. This was the perfect decision for me as they fit like a glove!

I finally did decide on a pair and I went for the So Kate Veau Velours in black and oh my, they are the most gorgeous shoes I have ever seen! Like I want to display them beautiful! I wanted something classic but a little bit different, I liked the patent So Kate’s but I saw the Velours and knew they were the ones I would love the most- they were me in shoe form. The velours are 120mm high with a pointed toe box and a superfine stiletto. I liked these shoes because the toe box is very long so helps to elongate your legs and the sides are very low down (not sure of the technical definition) which looks very elegant. Along with the high super fine stiletto these shoes look so glamorous. I know there are some louboutins similar with a smaller heel and rounder toe, however I really wanted more of a statement shoe… even if they are more uncomfortable! Which leads me onto my next point.

I mean they are super uncomfortable so I wouldn’t say I would wear these shoes if I knew I was going to be standing all night, they are more of an out to dinner shoe, which i’m fine with because I mean they look amazing on!

Although these shoes are expensive I definitely think I am going to get the wear out of them because they are so classic. They are an investment piece. I went for black because I knew I would be able to style them with almost any outfit and the velvet/suede effect makes the shoes look classy.

I also absolutely love the packaging, I was like a kid at Christmas when they first arrived. the simplicity of the brown box is beautiful and then you open it up and are hit with the iconic red coloured dust bags, one for each shoe! ridiculous right? But amazing at the same time! Everything about receiving a pair of Louboutins is so exciting and I truly love my shoes and can’t wait to wear them for the first time! Although I am apprehensive as I don’t want the red sole to rub off too quickly. If anyone has any tips for keeping the red sole in good condition please let me know in the comments!
